Dear Rob
I just read your book and was impressed with the common sense approach.
As a associate professor of business and owner of several small businesses
your advice is well taken and there are little tidbits which can be utilized by anyone
today trying to manage any of the resources you cover.
I would like to ask your permission to use some of this material in my classes from a real life approach.
None of the material will be copied or given directly to the students except to discuss approaches and problem solving techniques.
Thanks, for a valuable read and good luck.
Sincerely,

Hi
I just wanted to drop you a line and to tell you I am one of the lucky ones.
I had contacted ($&%&%#^&) and ($&%&%#^&) but I also found a private vendor who would sell
me a few of his accounts. All this happened the same weekend. I found your ebook
the night before I was buying a factory location. Your ebook really helped me
figure the true market value. I didn't overpay. My seller easily answered your 3 questions
and I am the very happy and new owner of my own new vending company.
Thank You!!!

Hey you helped me at the right time. I was trying to talk my wife into a $17,800 3 machine deal.
I was shocked at the word for word fact for fact details of my opportunity meeting in your book.
Luckily they had a we will not sell you today guarantee and they were true to their word.
So I was able to slip out and I started to look up vending on the net and
I found a site just before yours selling used ($&%&%#^&) machines 1 to 3 years old
for only 1200.00 to1700.00 dollars each and there were a bunch too.
Some even only a hour and a half from here so I was going to buy one and see how it went
then I got your ebook and BOY AM I GLAD I did.
I love the startup idea it will even be far less than the 1200.00 machine I was going to buy.
I even am going to ($&%&%#^&) and donate 20% to JDRF the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation
a charity my wife and I already actively support.
Well THANK THANK THANK you.
I do not believe in accident and I like to think you wrote this ebook just so I could find it at just the right moment.
Enjoy the twenty and I will enjoy the $17,800.00 even more now too.
Sincerely
Bob Morrow
P.S. I am going to pull a dba for ($&%&%#^&) today and open a bank account and
get my Costco wholesaler card too. THANKS again

My Vending Uncle,
Thanks for publishing this information. I'm interested in becoming my own

Robert,
I just finished reading this. I just dove into your information. I did have that cup
of coffee while reading. 3 mos ago I fell into the ($&%&%#^&) trap and we both know the
rest. I also had inflated expectations but they quickly came into reality. Your ebook
was valuable as it is a confirmation of what I have been realizing and accepting. I enjoyed
the actual case histories of you and the others. My desire for this business was to supplement other income while keeping
it simple as the single guy you profile in your ebook. I have been beating the pavement for additional locations.
So actually I paid ($&%&%#^&) $10,000.00 for one location and a big,..very big lesson. However it does give me
satisfaction to empty that change tray and be my own businessman on a part-time basis.
You've given me a great path to follow.
Thanks for your valuable insight.

I have just purchased 3 machines (9000.00 cash) and was looking into the
100% financing on three more! Just today! I am glad I spent my 20.00 dollars
and will take your advice. I was not sure of that since I am only bringing
in about 60.00 per week on two and 12.00 on the other. I do have two
locations coming up in 4 months and I would like to have two more rather
than move them. I will look into your ($&%&%#^&) ideas.
It makes good sense. I want to make this work. I am a

Greetings Robert;
I read your Small Change paper with great interest. I
have been out of work for a few months and have been
thinking of lots of business ventures (as well as
trying to get back into the electronics industry). I
guess I have been luck (smart??) in that I have not
gone to a business seminar where the sales people
paint such a glowing picture. I have been talking
directly with people at ($&%&%#^&). From what I can tell,
they are a manufacturer of bulk vending machines. This
is the area I have been looking into. What I read was very
interesting and helpful. Thanks for giving me an idea
of how to access a machines true value.
I am still not sure if I will
venture into this business, but I do appreciate your
unbiased paper and the tips on other places on the web
to get more information.

Robert,
Thank you for sharing your experiences, advice and information. It was well worth the $20.
I have been looking at an opportunity I found in the Bizops section of our local paper and the deal sounds really good.
$28k for 10 combo machines including the locations and, after 30 days, 0 interest financing for 60 months on more equipment. They also repair the equipment under warrantee for 5 years. Sounds great except for the $28k right?
It's also interesting that I can't get information on the locations even though there are 40 available and ready to go in my area. Of course they are offering an exclusive territory if you buy 10 machines.
I also couldn't find financial info on the distributer. Of course they do not manufacture the machines.
After reading your paper I plan to use the knowledge and see if I can negotiate with them a bit but I believe I will try your ($&%&%#^&) system first and see how it works for me.
I've been a salesman all my life and I think I would enjoy the challenge.
I also believe you can make a good living in this business.
I think it is a great concept.
Thanks again.

Just finished your 'rant.' Thanks. Very clear & informative.
I'm a stay-at-home Dad to our almost 4-year old and our 13-month old. It's delightful.
I have a couple of VERY MINIMAL incomes since I have no time or energy. My wife is a VP at MGM studios.
To reach some of our familial goals, I need to supplement the moola intake. I see vending as a part-time scenario.
Of course, if it 'took off', I'd be inclined to do whatever was necessary to take advantage of that fortuitous occurrence!
I am going to take your ($&%&%#^&) suggestion to heart.
I appreciate Small Change, and will refer to it on an ongoing basis.

I want to tell you that this was the best $20.00 I've ever spent.
I saved thousands of dollars by reading this and declining the BizOp program.
I was able to find and purchase 7 machines for around $16,000 less then I would have paid for three at the show.
A business I was going to buy from a local guy fell through when I offered him $12,000 less then he was asking,
(thanks to your advice). Now I'll have 7 machines for under $3,000, thanks to reading your book and advice.
Thanks again and again.

Robert, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for putting this info out on the

learn more before I give up my money.
Then if I still am excited about the idea, I will follow your advice and hit the streets.
I am excited about the potential, being a laid off airline pilot, I need something that

Hi there Vending Uncle,
My name is Robert and I saw the ad in the newspaper (or shall I say ads).
Called all the 1-800 numbers and even got some of them to send packages.
Most were reluctant because they didn't know if you were serious or even had the kind of money they are looking for.
I spent several hours researching the industry before I came across your site.
Was a little reluctant to spend twenty dollars on your info but your humor about the business convinced me.
Money well spent.
I like the idea behind the vending industry and it's possible upside but I was a part of
the
"Anyway" generation and learned nothing is as good as salesmen say it is.
Finding it difficult to find the inside information I am happy to have read your article.
There are some grammatical and format errors but I don't think you made money by teaching English either. LOL!
Anyway I believe I am going to try to start your way.
I live in Raleigh, NC and hope to be able to email you in six months with a nice progress report.
Thank You

Hi,
I found all your information extremely useful, and being a person who has the patience and wants to own my own company,
because I was laid off after 7 years as a stockbroker/options trader I realized more and more there is no security at a place.
I did hire a locator, and had them put in the contract if I found locations before him, the contract would be adjusted.
My idea was to collect valuable information in how he went about presenting the product to get a location.
Truth is locators are afraid to try and cut red tape, and stay away from anything looking "corporate", however I got my
best location at one.
My husband has been skeptical about this business, but I have patience, I can slowly expand as I want.
Thanks for your ebook
I love referring to it time and time again, great advice about ($&%&%#^&) and looking for ($&%&%#^&)

You are offering a sincere product that makes me feel better that I paid for it to help you stay in business rather than getting it for free! I wish you much success!

Dear Robert,
I just purchased and enjoyed reading your article about vending machines. Me and my g/f want to go into business, like yourself in the beginning we are making these sort of reasonable? guesstimations about how much money we can make- in particularly with the Video Game machines.ie, $30-$40/day. like yourself in the beginning we were close to buying 2 machines - (*&^(^) and a diff. one costing us about $10000.U.S. After your article I really think we are gonna buy used/cheap and test the location first. We never made it to a vending show or anything, I actually got the idea from Warren Buffet's bio, one of his first bus. ventures was he had pinball machines in 7 diff. barber shops. They gave him a great return on his money, and we are hoping for the same. I know you said your not a reader referral service, but we would really, really like to get the email of your friend that IS successful with the video game machines? we would only ask a few simple questions, anyways thanks for the document, It was definetely worth the $20.

Dear Robert Farmham(vending Uncle),
My name is jite. Today my sister purchest your E- book for me I read it emediatly, it was vary imformitive. Not to long ago I decided to become a vendor so I could learn how to start and run a small business. I have to say this decision was intimidating you see I have never started a business before and I'm just turning 22 next month. Don't get me wrong this is no sob story. Up until now I have been a professional artist and while I have made money as an artist I have only made enough to survive. Starting a business seemed like a good way to escape the unafisial vow of poverty that most artist unknowingly take. I also wanted to avoid simply getting a job and taking another unofficial vow of poverty not to mention that would not allow me much time to paint in the future. I want you to know you information has been very valuable. Now I know how to find better deals on machines and I don't feel as if I'm walking blindly into a desert full of snakes
Thank You, Thank You

Hi Rob,
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I have a full time job and a good income, but there are always extra
expenses that keep throwing my budget out-of-whack. I have a sophomore in
college and a junior in high school, so I was looking for a second income to
help with the extra expenses. So...I responed to one of those newspaper ads
that claimed a 'no money down' deal with earning up to 45K a year. (Well I
knew that it had to be too good to be true - but what if, just what if, it
could really earn 12-15K a year? - that would be a huge help - so I took a
nibble.) After speaking with the salesman, I would need 8K to buy 22
machines and they would only take 6-10 hours a week to maintain (yeah,
right!). Oh, and 1800 of that money was to hire a locating company - 'that
would guarantee satisfactory locations'. I repeatedly asked the salesman to
confirm that I would NOT have to find my own locations and he kept assuring
me the locating company would find locations that I would be happy with.
Well......after reading your book, I realise just exactly how much horse
hockey this 'deal' really is. I had asked several friends for their
opinions, but none have ever been involved in the vending business so they
could not offer any advice. I gladly spent the $20 to buy your book because
I really needed to hear from someone who had personal knowlege of the
vending business. Your book educated me enough to realise that vending might be for
me, but the deal I was looking at isn't.
Your book just saved me $7,980.00 (of course I had to subtract the 20 book
cost). The salesman is calling back tonight and now I can confidently say
that I have researched the opportunity and decided that I am not interested.
Thank you for sharing your experiences. That is truly the best $20 I have
spend in a while.

Hello,
I actually drove all over Austin Texas looking for a book on Vending. I
found none! I then checked amazon and found 3 or so. Then I found your site
and ordered your pdf.
I paid my twenty bucks and downloaded the .pdf.
The reality is that your book just saved me $28000.00. A slick
sales guy at (*&^%&*%) was trying to sell me 100 candy machines! He said
almost everything you said he would in your book. Including the crap about
locating the machines for free.
I cannot thank you enough for making this type of information available to

perspective.
I am glad now that I gave the sales guy the wrong phone number so he can't
hassle me any further!
Thanks a million,

First of all on the critical side, (I should have been
an art critic), you might want to proof read your
paper.
Then again, I find mistakes daily in the news paper
too.
To the heart of the matter though....
This past weekend, I attended one of the very shows
you speak of which was how you started out. Yup,
would have cost me $15000, plus whatever my other
start-up costs would have been: my estimate, around
$1500-$2000.
As it happened, my schedule for the weekend was
already pretty full, so, my time to do some research
was practically non-existent. It can be nice to have
a 'primary investor' who does have the time on their
hands. I'm always skeptical of new business
opportunities, but have been looking into them for the
last year or 2 because I'm interested in starting my
own. Well, my parents (that primary investor), did
have the time and convinced me to look a bit deeper.
Well, my work schedule today was light, so I did.
Guess what, I found your site/article and chose to
'invest' the $20. No, no refund necessary; I think
the information you provided was well worth the
savings of thousands of dollars.
I still am planning to get into,
the business, but I now (thanks to you), have a
clearer picture on what is involved and what to
expect.
I like the idea of ((*&^(*&^&*) and even
thought of somewhere to put my first one: my Vet
clinic.
In closing, just let me again say thank you for
publishing your vending experience. I found it to be
extremely educating.
Sincerly,

Mr. Farnham,
I wanted to let you know that you just saved us $18,000 worth of hassle. My husband says that he wouldn't have done it anyway, but you know the power a woman has over a man. ;-) We WOULD have done it if I threw a big enough fit! Trust me! It really is so amazing how they reel you in. They make it seem so easy and you just think know you have what it takes to make major bucks. The company is out of California. You probably know the one. It was as if you were writing about them in your report.
The seminar was this past Saturday and we have til Wednesday to make a decision so I'll give them credit for letting us have a few days. It gave me plenty of time to do some research on the Internet and when I saw your website, I figured I would go for it. What do I have to loose $20 or $18,000? I think that was a no brainer. Your report was a big time eye opener. It made me see more clearly how they get you all hyped up and hoping you'll be one of the 15 people they choose for your area. Then as you described the way you REALLY should do it, it made soo much sense!.
Anyway, I really appreciate you taking the time to inform us poor suckers out here who are really trying to help better our lives financially by owning our own businesses. It's people like you who help make this world a little bit better place to be! Thanks again!!!

vending machines would be a good way to start with little money and grow.
I nearly borrowed $10k from family to start a "((*&^*(^)" by buying
30 (*&^%*%*^&%).....)
But after reading your book I decided against it and started finding the
exact same machines ()(*&)*&(&^) 0.99 to 9.99.(90%off) So I guess you can say that
your book saved me $9,980 (The "franchise"price less the price of the book,
of course.)
Anyway, thank youfor the work you have done in writing the book.
Thanks,

Hey Rob,
I really appreciate the follow up e-mail, to make sure that everything
turned out alright for me. I wish more people were like you when doing
business over the net. I also wanted to tell you that the information that I
bought from you was worth more than 20 bucks!
I myself almost fell into the
trap of getting a loan on some vending machines ((*&^(*^). Then I took your advice.....
I've had it in place for almost a month now, and it's averaging
about ((*&^(*&^) a day. I am planning on getting a hundred of these machines.
Again, I really appreciate your willingness to show that you care and to be
an honest business man!
Thanks,

Rob,
I am one of those people who responded to a newspaper ad, but decided to do a bit more research before jumping in with both feet.
Having been laid off a year ago, after 12 years in the military and 30 years in the High Tech industry, I was looking for opportunities to reduce the rapid decimation of my modest savings account. my retirement was almost fully invested in tech stocks and the crash of those same stocks. That resulted in serious impact on my options and I became eager to establish a business that would carry my wife and I into retirement.
The sales pitch from the mass advertisers makes bulk vending sound like the easy way to quick financial independence ("earn up to 800% profit" - "become a millionaire one quarter at a time" - 22 cents profit on every quarter")- that was the first Red Flag.
The second flag was the requirement for significant front loaded capital expenditure in order to make a nice income. Not knowing the market but assuming it would not be the $100 sales per machine the sales people would like you to believe, I thought (*&^%*&%) machines would be about right and would manageable by one person working half time resulting in about 95,000 pre-tax dollars per year.
The third flag was the fact that nothing comes without effort and if it sounds too good to be true - it must be.
Finding your offering during initial research via the web was providential. I am very happy to say that the $20 expenditure for your book probably kept me from making a serious financial mistake when I could least afford it.
Thus, I am very appreciative of the fact that you took the time to create and make this information available when you could have been resting on your laurels and enjoying your own financial success.
The words THANK YOU hardly seem adequate.
Sincerely,
Floyd H. J

I am so glad I read your book. I consider myself to be a well educated
person with a lot of street smart. Somehow, however, I talked to (8&^%*&%)
today and was almost suckered into buying ($&%^#) for $10,000. After
reading your book, I must thank you...you saved me thousands of dollars. I
think I will start by buying machines as you suggested. (or get them for free!)
If I hate the business, I will have the machine in my home for
fun. I
am an at home mom and just thinking to make some income on the side. I am
not looking for millions. Who knows though, if I start slow and smart, as
your book advises, maybe I will surprise myself. Thank you for sharing your
invaluable knowledge and opinions. Well worth the 20 bucks!

Rob,
Let me start by saying how great it was to hear you spilling the beans on the so called vending industry. Your comments are valuable in more ways than you know. I started in this business on a few machines and a prayer so to speak. I have already learned some of the hard lessons. Like not buying machines that already have major problems. Unfortunately, the person I bought alot of the business from did not have good functioning machines from the start. I have since replaced a lot of machines because of the headaches of being called every other day to fix this or that. I am a UPS driver during the day so as you could imagine I don't feel like running to locations the minute I get home. I also have a problem with my customers having to deal with crappy machines. Nothing irritates someone more than losing money in a machine. Anyway, I wanted you to know I thoroughly enjoyed your personal story and I'm glad you decided to post it to the web. I feel like I have a mentor now in a business that is everyone for themselves. I make good money at my job but I wanted to have something that would be there for me to fall back on or sell whenever I decide to. I'd love to have your opinion on my current ideas. I'll gather my thoughts and run them by you. If you don't have time I definately understand. I'm a very busy guy myself. Talk to you later and thanks again. Your information was worth ten times what you got for it!

Rob, thanks a million for your book......it was money well spent by myself, and I believe it did save me some loses, some maybe huge!!!!!! I have been in the grocery business for some 30 years, and know how vending machines can be a real pain.....I am still considering a small cigar venture, but my purchase of some machines from a 1-800 Florida ad with a locating service is now on hold!!!
My wife and I were having alot of second thoughts, esp. placing these machines into the factories and businesses in this area. This being an area already supplied by the pop companies, and THREE local vending companies....of course, none of this would be a problem with the locating service and my reputation..
I bet you heard that before!!!!!.. anyway, thanks again, and I'll keep you posted.

hi, your e-book helped so much u have no idea or perhaps u do :)
I got taken advantage of once for $30,000 and really don't have another dime to give to these mmm, can't think of what they called themselves.
i don't mind paying for lessons but i really overpaid, thanks to their encouragement.
the reason i spent the $20.00 for your invaluable e-book was to make sure i didn't fall out of reality and into another "i love you, i love you today and tommorrow who's calling and why, no return phone calls, geez, they couldn't get enough of me b4 they got my money now they don't know my name. Sorry, alot of people have done what i did but that is still hard to recover from financially. especially when i shared important personal information with them such as i am 55yrs old i can't afford to do this unless they are sure this could bring in enough income for me to live on. Never mind.
o.k, i thank you so very much for compliling the information given, it was well worth more than $20.00 bucks alot of good information, resources and alternatives.
please forward a big thank you to your nephew as well.

Thanks for the treasure trove of information. I went to a seminar by (*&^%&*%) on Sunday and I have an appointment this afternoon with the "sales rep". I believe I am going to cancel this appointment and take your advise on finding locations on my own. I have the 10% down for 3 machines ($2000) and I was about to get some equity out of my house for the balance, but (*&^(&^(&%).....well after reading your e-book I think the best thing to do is hold on to my money and continue my research and do the "(&*%$*#^$) first!
You are a Gentleman & a Scholar! The $20 I spent on "Small Change" was worth every penny. Thanks again...I'll keep in touch if it's OK with you!

Dear Rob,
I just wanted to thank you for your information, it was very helpful to my wife and I in making the proper decidion.
What was our dicidion do you say? We decided not to spend the $20000.00 we would have had to borrow just to buy 3 machines. You nailed it on the head when you said they say everything you want to hear and then tell you they are only selecting a few venders in this area (it was 15 venders in our seminar).
Here's how we came to our decidion as follows: We took your advise and looked at (&$*&*&^$()^).We did the math in our head pretty quickly, realizing that we could buy quite a bit more with prices like that with the same $20000.00. In fact, why get a loan for that much for ($&^%$^&%$) making money and (&*^$*&)...
Thank you for your time and wizdome. We are glad we didn't make a huge mistake. The $20.00 I spent for your book was well worth the money and worth the monet that my wife and I saved which is 1000 times that much.
Take Care and God Bless,

Hi Rob,
Wow, a real person with a response and everything! I am amazed. Thank you
for putting the information from your experiences in print. I figured $20
was worth the chance since we had a time set to go to a "Business
Oppurtunity" meeting on Sunday. The meeting propagana that was sent was exactly
as you described in your booklet. So this time, we were going
to do a lot of research. And now, if we do this, we will take time and look and follow
your directions. You gave lots of helpful information and I like your style
of writing.
We now own a Harley-Davidson repair shop. My husband started this business
about 10 years ago and we plan on selling it to one of our mechanics within
the next two years. We thought a vending business may be another business
to start now and then we will have some income when we leave this business.
So thanks again for your help. We feel you helped save us from a costly
mistake we may have considered making.
Thanks for being honest.

Dear Rob:
I enjoyed the content of your book. If I do decide to jump in now I would definitely begin on a shoebox budget ($*&$&*s) was great advise. Your commentary awakened me. And your e-book saved me a bundle.
So many "business opportunities" are pure scam I now question if there's not a need for appropriate regulation or "scam police."
At any rate, thanks. The $20 spent by myself was well worth the insight delivered. I hope you make a lot of compensation on this one!

Hello Rob: I'd just like to thank you for sharing the info in your e-book. I printed it up ok, and this morning I did the 3 hole punch number and put it in a folder. I stumbled across your website while trying to inquire about placing an ad in AOL yellow pages. I am trying to expand. I only do soda vending. I've been doing ok since I started 4yrs ago.
This is my only job now. I need to go to full time. I don't like the idea of going door to door to find out if someone needs soda vending. I need to expand, the sooner the better. I like your book , and I'm going to try the acquire some routes thing you talked about, and I really liked the idea of (&^%$^%#). I was happy to read that I have already done some things the right way.... (&^%$&^#)... adding slowly and only when I could make a profit..... Thanks again for the e-book Rob. I wanted to let you know that I was leary of ordering you e-book but I was more nervous about not hearing what you had to say so took a chance and I am so glad I did.
Your e-book told me just what I needed to hear. It was the information that I was looking for but couldn't find. It helped me to realize that "vending" was not for me (at least not right now). I need some part time income but I don't think "vending" is a good fit for me. I am so glad to find that out before I made any big decision. Also, realizing those vending business opportunities weren't that way to go even if I pursued vending was incredibly helpful. I consider the $20 I spent on your book a great investment! Your doing a great thing by sharing this info. with everyone. Thanks so much,

I found the book valuable. I had replied to one of the
biz-op ads in my local paper, and had started crunching numbers in Excel
with dollar signs dancing in my head. Your book was just the bucket of cold
water I needed. Well worth the $20 to realize there is a MUCH better way to
get into the business.
I feel the $20 I spent helped avert a potential financial disaster. Thank
you.
BTW, the company I was talking to (&^%$&^%$) is offering 10
mechanical snack machines for $7750. A quick check/search from your recommendation revealed a company selling an identical machine for
$329 each! Wow!
I'll start out making a profit when the times right.

Hey Rob,
Thank you so much for the friendly, down-to-earth "uncle's advice". My wife,
Linda, and I were about to step in several of the 'potholes' you warned
about. I'm sure we will still make many mistakes, but we found your ebook
most informative, and we will try hard to avoid the pitfalls you mentioned.
Thanks,

PS: I really like your blunt, straight-forward manner, and your ethical
approach. We have still not established our first location, but have already
had one stolen from us - it was to be our first - a large UPS depot here in

Thanks again, it is very refreshing to see that we are not the only ones
left in this crazy world with a sense of ethics & morality.

Hi there Rob.
I really enjoyed hearing what you had to say, I did get a lot
of good information and felt is was well worth the money. I knew only a
small amount about this industry, but I have always been attracted to it.
It just makes sense to me and I feel very confident that this is what I am
going to do.
I did go to a Bizop show and did so with caution, I liked what I heard but I
also realized (as you mentioned) the cover-up that they are there to sell
machines. I like some of these &^%$&^$%&$#). I know I can negotiate well
enough myself and save the $$$. That money will go to overhead purchasing.
Once again thank you, and maybe I can keep in contact ocassionally to let
you know what or how I am doing. Right now however, I am just laying out my
game plan and taking one step at a time. I glad I found you befor I went to shell out that type
of money to the Bizop without looking at all my options.
